The multiplayer in The Forest is a huge part of why it was successful, and trust me, you still feel very scared and isolated. Really the only thing seperating those two games is a different story and setting, but other than that that are extremely similar. I have played The Forest which is an entirely different game, but it is also basically the exact same gamemode and has the exact same feel. The fact that multiplayer "removes the isolated feel" is completely incorrect. Too be honest, Below Zero could have easily been a DLC, however I personally feel that the developers are really looking to cash out on the popularity of the first game so they decided to make an entirely different one. I find it hard to believe that none of you seem to want multiplayer in the game, and to address all of the points made: But event if the dev really wanted, it would not be possible, or so glitchy and hack togather it wouldn't be enjoyable for anyone. Multiplayer will go against that feeling. In the end, most people like this game for the atmosphere it provide, being alone, stranded, always on your toe. And you can see even now how buggy and unstable multiplayer is, because the engine was tweek to work in multiplayer, and not build for it from the ground up. From reddit post during the first game development, doing so would need to restart development of the entire 2 game from scratch (aside of voice/prop/texture) and may be way harder to pull off.Ī game notorious for pulling it of (admitedly really early in the development) is Space Engineers. The said engine isn't a standard unity, cryengine, unrealengine and whatnot, They made there own.Īnd lastly, the engine is not capable to undle multiple player. The first game and this one run on the same engine (3d, physics.
